Reflections…

With the Christmas rush over and the New Year around the corner, I always find myself deep in reflection….. change is always in the air at this time of year. Thoughts of what went wrong this year and how I can improve next year. Thoughts on what I want to keep doing, things that worked well for us in the home and school, and that I want to continue with in the New Year.

Our school year is over….. in January the children all go up a grade, start new books, begin new projects…. I really enjoy this time of reflection, because I can set new goals -for school, for our family, for the home, for my personal life.

I’ve been hearing more and more that people don’t make New Year’s Resolutions anymore because they inevitably break them withing weeks of making them. I don’t know if I make resolutions as such, but I certainly set goals and plan for the new year. If I don’t, I know that I will keep going as I have been…. and some things do need to change.

“Where there is no vision, the people perish” Prov29:18

We all need vision in our lives. We need goals. God has been speaking to me about many areas of my life this past month. Some of these areas are ones that I do not want to change! But, I know I need to… and I will be sharing more about that in the next few days. There are things I have to let go of….. and that is hard too. Change is not easy, but if it is what God wants us to do, then it brings with it the strength to change and blessings because we obeyed.

Don’t be afraid to reflect on the past year, and dream about the year to come. Take some time in the next few days to pray, read His Word, and write down the things He is telling you.
